Over the weekend I was successfully rebuked about my lack of blogging entries. Well since Tom and I live pretty much ordinary lives we don't have a lot of opportunities to take interesting pictures. So I made Tom snatch this picture of us on our way to work on this snowy St. Patrick's Day!
I do however want to share a little bit about my spiritual day yesterday. It all started with the wonderful talk given by Emma at her homecoming. She spoke on how this life is meant for us to learn and be tried so we can become like our Savior. It was very heart felt and sincere and very inspiring. Watching and listening to her speak was a wonderful experience simply because she glowed w/ the knowledge and the love that she has for the gospel. I was edified by the spirit as I listened to her powerful testimony.
After Emma spoke there was a special musical number given by all the Young Women past and present. It was so fun to get up there w/ the Young Women that I taught when I was in that ward and also the Young Women that have moved on to different stages of their lives. It brought back so many memories and I'm so grateful to have been able to be a part of that!
The next part of my spiritual day was in my ward. My mom and I gave the musical number where I sang 'Greater Love' from The Women at the Well. If you know this music then you know how powerful it is. Most of the time when I get up to sing I'm very nervous, which results in my voice shaking uncontrollably. Yesterday when I got up to sing I was nervous but as the music started this calm settled over me and I was able to think more about the words and focus more on the spirit of the music then how nervous I was. This is a small miracle for me and if you've ever performed you know what I mean!
Then to top everything off last night I had the opportunity to conduct a youth choir for the Youth Standards Night. It was awesome! We only had two rehearsals before we had to perform and at each of the rehearsals we only had about a quarter of the youth show. So we were a little unprepared for the numbers we had come last night. We filled the choir seats at the Stake Center and packed chairs in wherever they would fit. There was only enough room for two of the Stake Presidency members to sit on the stand and the rest was filled w/ the youth. At the rehearsal before we were all a little worried about the ones who had not made it to the previous rehearsals because it was obvious that they weren't very familiar with the music. But as the program started I think the heavens opened because the sound that came was not what I expected. They sang beautifully and brought such a strong spirit into the meeting. The last number of the night was sung by all the youth and was so powerful. You could feel the testimonies that were being sung by each of those young people. I am so grateful to have been a part of such a wonderful night and to be able to interact w/ so many wonderful kids from our church.
